Gifts to this fund will make an immediate impact on students at the University of Tennessee. The Vice Chancellor for Student Life will allocate gifts to enhance:
The Center for Leadership and Service strives to educate and engage all students to lead and serve in the global community. Alternative Fall and Spring Break trips have been held for 20 years and nearly 1700 students, faculty and staff have benefited from leading and serving in communities as near as Knoxville and as far as Mazatlan, Mexico. Your support for the Alternative Breaks program will allow the Center for Leadership and Service to grow the program, offset trip costs and most importantly, keep Alternative Break trips affordable for students therefore allowing more participants to experience an AFB or ASB trip before graduation.
The University of Tennessee has embarked on an ambitious plan to help students gain the international and intercultural knowledge they need to succeed in today's world. Ready for the World is part of a long-range plan to transform the campus into a culture of diversity that best prepares students for working and competing in the 21st century. This fund will directly engage with the Ready for the World project by recognizing the need to support cultural and international programming along with diversity initiatives. The student-oriented endowment will help bring cultural programming to campus to diversify and enrich the educational experiences of UT students.
Establishing a cultural foundation of knowledge, building diverse relationships, and experiencing education in a variety of settings is critical to the success of faculty and staff in higher education. This endowment will support professional development opportunities for exemplary faculty and staff on an international level.
This strategic fund will benefit the entire student population, reaching across campus to provide resources for various programs and services at UT as determined by the vice chancellor for student life and the dean of students.
At various times, the Division of Student Life has the opportunity to model what it means to be a true volunteer by assisting students and families in need. This fund allows staff the flexibility to provide the basic human needs during an emergency or crisis situation.
