The Commission for Blacks has announced several award opportunities. Deadline for all awards is February 1, 2019.
The Hardy Liston, Jr. Symbol of Hope Award is awarded to a faculty or staff member who has demonstrated a commitment to the development of individuals in our society through cultivating and enriching the human mind and spirit. It will be presented at the Chancellor’s Honors Banquet in the Spring.
The Gene Mitchell Gray Pioneer Award is awarded to a student who has demonstrated service, leadership, social advocacy, and/or a commitment to the spirit of cultural enrichment and the appreciation of differences on campus. It will be presented at the Chancellor’s Honors Banquet in the Spring.
The African American Hall of Fame Award is awarded to an administrator, faculty, or staff member who have played a significant leadership role in the advancement of issues related to African-Americans in general, at UT, and in the surrounding community and state.
The African American Trailblazer Award is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the accomplishments of African Americans affiliated with UT who are trailblazers in their disciplines or within the fields of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
