Katy Locke Named Director of RecSports

The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee has named Katy Locke as the next director of RecSports. Locke has been a part of the Volunteer Family for almost sixteen years, serving in multiple leadership roles within RecSports, including the Aquatics Program director, assistant director, and most recently associate director.

In her new role, Locke will provide strategic direction for TRECS (138,000 sw. ft.), Student Aquatic Center (61,000 sq. ft.), Sutherland Field Complex (38 acres) HPER Recreation Use, and Fulton Bottoms Field.

“I am delighted to welcome Katy Locke to our team as she provides critical leadership to RecSports,” Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life Dr. Frank Cuevas said. “She brings excellent extensive knowledge in the field and is committed to supporting our students through holistic programming and outreach.”

Locke was heavily involved in the opening of the TRECS center in 2003, the Student Aquatic Center refresh for SEC 2006, and the Sutherland Field Complex project, providing 38 acres of recreation space for students, faculty, staff, and Knoxville community.

In addition to her work within RecSports, Locke is actively engaged in NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation and various other campus committees.
