Please join us in congratulating Tara McWhorter as she begins her new journey at Texas Christian University! After two years as the director of New Student & Family Programs, she will become the director of First Year Experience at TCU. “I am excited to continue the work of orientation, transition, and retention with the students at TCU as I have been able to do with our new Vols” says Tara.
She goes on to say “I am grateful for my time in NSFP and the Division of Student Life, the personal and professional growth that has taken place over the last two years, the discussions that were had in our Leadership Team meetings, the partnerships that were formed and/or made stronger, and most importantly, the friendships made.”
During her time at UT, Tara was involved in NODA Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention, holding positions from program chair to NODA board member in 2019. To read more about Tara’s leadership in NODA, check out her Inspire Leadership story!
We are thankful to Tara for all of her work here at UT and the impact she has made on the new student experiences. We wish her all the best at TCU and will miss her dearly!
Tara’s last day will be on July 8 and she will continue to assist Student Life until that date. After her departure, the primary point of contact for NSFP will be Dr. Cuevas as he serves in the acting director role. Eddie Higginbotham will remain as the primary contact for Orientation. James Kelly will continue to serve as the primary contact for Welcome Week and the Parent’s Association Newsletter, and Lindsey Snow is the contact for Fall Family Weekend.
