What’s Going on During Welcome Week

You have just settled into your new residence hall, and you and your roommate are thinking about things to do together. You have been decorating for hours or playing video games and just want to get out and explore campus. Within this post you will find some of the fun events being held during this year’s Welcome Week!

Don’t know where classes are? Can’t figure out what all the building acronyms mean?

Orientation Leaders will be doing class schedule tours on Tuesday, August 20 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the seal. They will walk around campus with you to find where your classes will meet for the first day of class. You can also look up what the building acronym stands for and where they are located by accessing the virtual campus map here! Information tents will be set up from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. from August 21-23 at AMB, the Torchbearer and the of Ped Walkway near Hess Hall.

Walk down Pedestrian Walkway!

Pedestrian Walkway (Ped Walkway) is located in the center of campus stretching from the Hill to Hess Hall. On your walk you will find tents where campus partners and organizations are providing information on how to get more involved with campus as well as handing out free gear. What college student doesn’t love free stuff??

Visit the Student Union Plaza during Explore Knox on August 20 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Connect with local businesses in the community to ensure you know of places to eat, shop, and have fun within the area. Knowing the Knoxville Community will help you feel more connected during your time at UT.

Leave your Mark on the Rock on August 22 at 3 p.m.

Come down to the Rock and become part of a UT tradition by leaving your mark on this famous campus landmark! All supplies will be provided, so just bring your creative skills!

Vol Night Long on August 23 from 9 p.m.-midnight

After your first few days of classes, come down to the Student Union Plaza and enjoy a night of food, friends, and fun! There will be moon bounces, free food, Tennessee gear, and tons of people to hang out with from all over campus. So be sure to stop by!

All new students are required to go to certain Welcome Week events and will be escorted by their RA. These are just some of the major events occurring during this year’s Welcome Week. Be sure check out the full list of events here!
