Come down to the TRECS Turf Fields and talk to peers about how to get more involved with RecSports this upcoming school year during the 17th annual RecFest held on Tuesday, August 20 from 5-7 p.m.
Open to all students, RecFest will include new student employment opportunities, sports club fair, games, food, and lots of giveaways! They will be serving up Sweet P’s BBQ as well as a vegetarian option. All you need to bring is yourself and some athletic clothing if you plan to participate in demos!
RecFest is for students who want to find out more about how to get involved in intramural sports, become part of a sports club, how and when to use certain facilities that are open to the students, and so much more! You will have the opportunity to meet and talk with all of 36 of the Sport Clubs as well as other program areas such as Intramurals, Fitness, Outdoor Pursuits, and Aquatics. In addition to the RecSports programs, other campus partners will be in attendance, including UT Police Department, SGA, and Big Orange Tix.
“Recreation is so much more than your ‘traditional sports.’ The benefits of utilizing the incredible variety of programs, classes, clubs, leagues, and facilities go far beyond the field, weight room, climbing wall, or group fitness studio. We at RecSports are providing recreation as a means to enhance a student’s personal growth and well-being, from the traditional physical sense to emotional and social well-being. The environments we create are opportunities for students to step out of their comfort zone and interact with people from across campus while participating in a sport, outdoor pursuit, or another activity they’re passionate about.” Cameron Freeman, Facilities Manager for RecSports.
Be sure to stop by and start your experience to recreation in a fun and innovative way with RecSports at UT!
