New Residence Halls on Campus

Students are moving into UT’s newest residence halls, Dogwood and Magnolia. The two new halls will become home to over 800 students on the west side of campus near the Jones Aquatic Center and TRECS. Inviting, open green spaces in the courtyard will welcome students while also providing easy access to student recreation facilities.

Magnolia Hall will provide housing in primarily semi-suite style rooms featuring double shared living options on floors 1-3. The fourth floor of Magnolia Hall offers community-style double occupancy living arrangements.

Similarly, Dogwood Hall will provide primarily semi-suite style rooms featuring double shared living options.  Dogwood Hall will also offer a limited number of four-bedroom apartments for upper division students.

“The new residence halls will be home to some living and learning communities (LLCs) offering students an opportunity to connect academically and personally with their peers,” says Executive Director of University Housing Chandra Myrick.

Magnolia Hall will house the communications LLC, Vibe, as well as the Pre-Medicine LLC. Dogwood will be home to the Honors LLC and Herbert Life LLC, which is for students in the Herbert College of Agriculture at the UT Institute of Agriculture. Magnolia Hall is also the home of University Housing central offices, located on the ground floor.

“There is no doubt students will enjoy their rooms as much as they will enjoy the shared living spaces that will allow them to study in groups, cook together, or just hang out,” says Myrick.

The opening celebrations for the two new halls will be held on August 23, 2019 at 3 p.m. in the Magnolia Courtyard.
