We are excited to welcome you to the Volunteer community! We can’t wait to meet you at move-in, get to know you at campus events, and start classes in just a few short weeks.
This to-do list will help on-campus students get ready to move into residence halls. Making sure these items are complete will help ensure a smooth move-in process!
Questions? Contact us at housing@utk.edu.
Make sure you are move-in ready
Log in to the University Housing Portal to view your room assignment and roommate information.
Don’t forget to download the Volunteer Life app on your mobile device for updated move-in information, including maps and driving directions!
Visit our fall 2020 move-in website for the latest information and updates about move-in.
Submit your immunization forms
If you have not already turned in your immunization forms, visit tiny.utk.edu/immunization for instructions and forms.
Tennessee law sets immunization requirements for incoming students at the state’s public colleges and universities. You must have completed vaccination forms on file at the Student Health Center before you can move into your residence hall.
Questions? Contact the Immunization Coordinator at 865-974-2264.
Get your VolCard
In order to activate your ID or have your ID printed, the VolCard office must have received your uploaded photo. All students should do this as soon as possible. If you have an iPhone or other Apple device, please activate mobile ID in your Apple Wallet. Mobile ID will activate doors in the residence halls the same as a physical card. New students that cannot use mobile credentials will have their VolCard student ID delivered to the residence hall and will receive the card at check-in. This card is required to enter your residence hall.
Please visit the VolCard website for more information.
Questions? Contact VolCard at 865-974-3430.
Review the University Housing policies
Our goal is to educate students on institutional policies, promoting a living experience that serves each resident and the campus community.
Prior to arriving on campus, please review Resident Responsibilities, University Housing Policies, the University Housing Discipline Process, Visitation Policies, and the Missing Student Protocol.
UT is is a Smoke-Free Campus. To learn more visit bewell.utk.edu/faq.
Confirm your move-in appointment
To promote social distancing, all students must have an appointment to move into the residence halls. Your appointment is specific to your assigned residence hall, so if you have changed halls since first making your appointment, you will need to update your time and location.
To check the date and time of your appointment, schedule a new appointment, or reschedule an existing appointment, log in to the University Housing Portal and click the Fall 2020 Move-in tab.
Move-in by Wednesday, August 19
The deadline to check-in to your room is 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
Please contact University Housing if you have a conflict and need us to hold your assignment past this date.
Be sure to complete the student self-screening no more than two hours prior to arriving to campus on your scheduled move-in day.
Please note: If you do not check in to your room, that does not automatically release you from your contract.
Accommodation requests
The university is committed to providing equitable access to the housing experience for students with disabilities. If you need disability-related accommodations, please contact Student Disability Services as soon as possible at 865-974-6087 or via email at sds@utk.edu to discuss your needs.
Please note: the implementation of accommodations and room assignment are contingent upon room availability at the time of approval.
