Department Mission Statement: Multicultural Student Life is dedicated to promoting a welcoming and inclusive campus environment while advocating for traditionally marginalized students by providing academic support, multicultural education, identity exploration, leadership development, and diverse and innovative programming through collaborative partnerships. We strive to assist in the retention and graduation of students who are empowered to positively impact a global society.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, group, and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Experience working with diverse student organizations in a programmatic, leadership or advisory role; Commitment to the educational and personal development of students
  • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Co-advise Diversity Peer Educators
  • Co-teach PSYC 382, Diversity Educator Training Course
  • Develop additional diversity education facilitations for the Diversity Peer Educators
  • Plan and coordinate the Kernel Konvos (or a film/music/art series)
  • Co-chair the Diversity Dialogue Series and the Diversity Dialogue Symposium Planning Committee
  • Oversee the weekly MSL social media educational posts & the annual Illuminator publication
  • Serve on the Multicultural Graduation Celebration & Recognition Ceremony Planning Committee
  • Help develop MSL departmental training for other offices that request MSL programming
  • Co-plan the local and national departmental multicultural excursions
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary/Benefits:

  • $1,325/month stipend
  • Full tuition waiver (including out-of-state tuition)
  • Free Health Insurance while enrolled in class

Term:

  • 20 hours a week, 12-month at-will appointment
  • Position involves occasional night (after 5 p.m. on weekdays) and some weekend work
  • Preferred early June 2021 start date
