Department Mission Statement: To introduce and connect all new undergraduate students to the University of Tennessee through student, staff, and faculty-led academic and social programming, both on-campus and online, in order to prepare them for their Volunteer experience.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Required
- Enrolled in UTK CSP program or related program
- Strong writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Positive attitude and desire to provide exceptional customer service
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Preferred:
- Experience managing website content
- Experience in student leadership, orientation, welcome week, or student activities
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Program Planning and Implementation:
- Assist with the planning and execution of Big Orange Welcome, UT’s 6-week welcome period (fall and spring) under the supervision of the Assistant Director
- Attend Orientation Advisory Committee meetings
- Assist in implementation and staffing at Big Orange Welcome
- Communications, Marketing, and Technology:
- Maintain Guidebook content
- Assist with the management of orientation.utk.edu
- Assist with the management of preorientation.utk.edu
- Research and Assessment:
- Analyze assessment results, report recommendations, and make appropriate programmatic changes
- Research best practices in related programming areas
- General:
- Attend professional development seminars, office planning sessions, support division-wide meetings, and activities, and research current trends and best practices related to the mission of the office
- Field parent, family, and student phone calls, emails, and social media messages
- All other duties as assigned, such as support of student recruitment, selection, and training
