Students are able to request tickets to home and away games. Please note that the request does not guarantee a ticket. Learn how to request tickets for away games.
Step 1: Request a Ticket
The first step to obtaining a home game ticket is to request a ticket. For regular-season games, there is a two-day request period typically beginning at 9 a.m. 10 days before the game and ending Thursday at 10 p.m. There is no advantage to being the first student to request a ticket, nor is there a disadvantage to being the last student to request a ticket.
During the request period for most games, eligible students may request one student ticket and up to two face-value home game guest tickets. For games where we anticipate that student ticket requests will exceed the allotment, we may not allow students to request guest tickets during the request period.
Group tickets
Students who wish to sit together with other students must identify a group leader and request to be seated with the group leader during the request period.
Guest tickets
If the number of student and guest tickets requested during the period exceeds the number of tickets available, the guest ticket portion of the requests will be canceled and the process will continue with only the student ticket requests.
Step 2: Purchase a Ticket
Once the request period ends, a selection/seat assignment lottery based on loyalty points is run to identify the students and groups that will have the opportunity to purchase tickets during Claim Period 1 and determine the location of their seats. If a student is a part of a group, the group leader is assigned points based on the group average. After the selection/seat assignment is run, you will be notified via email whether or not you have been selected and have the opportunity to purchase tickets. For most games, the opportunity to purchase a ticket is split into three time periods: Claim Period 1, Claim Period 2 (waiting list), and Open Sales Period.
Students who request tickets are sent an email the day after the close of the request period. The email indicates either that they have been selected and now have the opportunity to go purchase (claim) their tickets or that they have been placed on a waiting list.
The students selected have until 4 p.m. Monday to purchase (claim) their tickets. Holidays may affect the schedule.
Tickets are purchased by going to the student ticket system, following the links for purchasing home game tickets and completing the necessary payment information. Acceptable forms of payment are Visa and Mastercard.
Students who fail to purchase their tickets by the deadline forfeit their Claim Period 1 purchase opportunity and will need to wait until the open sales period begins to attempt to purchase a ticket again.
Claim Period 2 takes place only if two things occur: first, the number of student tickets requested exceeds availability, and second, tickets remain unclaimed after claim period 1.
The system takes the remaining tickets and reassigns them to students based on a weighted lottery. The more loyalty points held by a student, the more opportunities for the student or group to be assigned tickets during the assignment process.
These students are sent an email indicating that they have been selected and now have the opportunity to go to the website and purchase (claim) their ticket.
The students selected have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to purchase (claim) their tickets.
Tickets are purchased by going to the student ticket system, logging in, following the links for purchasing home game tickets, and completing the necessary payment information. Acceptable forms of payment are Visa or Mastercard.
Students who fail to purchase their tickets by the deadline forfeit their Claim Period 2 purchase opportunity.
An open sales period, beginning the Wednesday after the end of Claim Period 2, may occur if tickets are available. Any tickets available after the close of Claim Period 2 are sold on a first-come, first-served basis during this period.
Tickets are purchased by going to the student ticket system, logging in, following the links for purchasing home game tickets, and completing the necessary payment information. Acceptable forms of payment are Visa and Mastercard.
Guest tickets may be purchased during this period.
If the number of student tickets requested is less than the number of student tickets available, the open sales period will open early and begin simultaneously with the start of claim period 1.
The Open Sales Period continues until all tickets are sold or one hour after kickoff.
Note: If student ticket requests exceed the allotment and tickets remain, we may choose to allow only students who were not selected in claim period 1 or 2 to access the system during open sales—in essence, a third claim period.
Step 3: Print Your Ticket
You need access to a printer to print your UT football game ticket. Please use white paper only when you print your football ticket. Do not use colored, textured, or watermarked paper. Be sure the ink or toner cartridge in your printer is not low. Incomplete, lined, streaked, or faded (red or pink in color) bar codes will not scan properly.
The ticket will bear the student’s name, event description, event date, the assigned seat, and a verification bar code. (Guest tickets will have the word “GUEST.”)
