Anna Perry to Attend STARS College

Congratulations to our very own Volunteer Anna Perry for being accepted into STARS College for Summer 2019!

“It is such an honor to have been accepted to STARS college” the third-year communications studies major eagerly stated.”It is such a wonderful opportunity and it is so meaningful to be the first student from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to be accepted.”

STARS College was started and is still run by the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I) and Anna will be the first UT student to represent the university at STARS College.

Assistant Director of University Housing, Kim Hardaway, spoke about STARS College as “a way for students who are interested in going into Student Affairs as a professional, to network and learn about graduate school, assistantships, and housing specific jobs.”

Kim Hardaway participated in the very first STARS College experience back in 2003. The experience helped her learn more about student affairs, especially since there is no designated major for that career path. She gained mentorships, life-long friends, and leadership experience from her attendance at the college.

Anna will head out of the country, to Toronto, Canada this summer to represent our Volunteer community and is looking forward to being surrounded by so many others who are passionate about student affairs.

“ACUHO-I is dedicated to making campus home and I look forward to gaining more knowledge and skills that will assist myself and others at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in making Rocky Top home sweet home for ALL Vols!”

Anna would like to thank everyone in University Housing for not only teaching her the necessary skills to be successful but also for the constant encouragement and helping her find her true passion within student affairs!
