Regarding other psychology topics, my current interests include neurodiversity, impacts of ecological systems on our mental health, burnout, how technology and inundation of information is impacting our mental health (on psychological, neurological, neuropsychological, and physiological levels), and clinical and daily life utility of psychological assessment. I am additionally passionate about working with psychology trainees.<\/p>\n<p>Generally within the community at large, I am an advocate for broadening the dissemination of psychological knowledge, the acceptance of emotional expression, and encouraging knowledge and use of coping skills to a wider and all ages population (because we all need it!).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Theoretical Orientation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are many approaches to therapy that are different ways of organizing the process and thinking about people\u2019s experiences. I believe in collaborative and strengths-based therapy and considering a whole person\u2019s context in investigating why we do what we do and in what ways we are able to create change or growth in our lives. I value hearing client\u2019s stories and then incorporating therapy modalities and\/or interventions within treatment that work for each client and what they are experiencing. My typical therapeutic approach centers around use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative therapy (the stories we tell ourselves), and Feminist therapy (not just for women, but instead an empowerment model). I have been trained in working from a multicultural perspective overall, acknowledging so many contextual identity considerations as well as possible related stress or experiences. I often encourage growth in self-compassion, acceptance and expression of our genuine selves, and making room for emotional experiences.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Personal Interests<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Personally, I love the outdoors (e.g., hiking, the lake), live music, yoga, my orange cat (\u201cTee\u201d after Tee Martin, the quarterback for the 1998 National Championship Tennessee Vols Football team), community events, journaling, and use of parentheses (for additional context).
