{"id":83,"date":"2016-11-30T16:17:05","date_gmt":"2016-11-30T16:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gogreek.utdev3.wpengine.com\/?page_id=83"},"modified":"2026-04-22T09:39:44","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T13:39:44","slug":"mgc-rush","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/studentlife.utk.edu\/gogreek\/councils-organizations\/how-to-join\/mgc-rush\/","title":{"rendered":"MGC Recruitment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p class=\"lead\">The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) at UT is composed of six culturally-based sororities and fraternities.<\/p>\n<p>The council is united by their aspirations to increase cultural awareness, serve the UT and Knoxville community, and to maintain high academic standards. MGC also coordinates activities that uplift personal\/professional development, celebrate the different cultures on UT\u2019s campus, and provide space to actively work across differences.<\/p>\n<p>Each MGC organization accepts potential new members through a new member education process.\u202fOur MGC organizations\u202fstart off with a series of events known as Rush or Recruitment Weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Rush\/Recruitment is an informal week(s) of educational, social, and service-related activities to get to know members and learn more about one organization of interest. Organizations will host\u202fformal informational\u202for interest meetings during or at the end of those weeks. Informational meetings allow individuals to learn more general information about said organization and Interest Meetings are formal meetings for those who are interested in moving forward with membership. At the end of an organization\u2019s rush week, they extend opportunities to selected individuals who meet the requirements of MGC and its national organization to pursue membership. MGC organizations will begin their recruitment weeks following MGC Fest each semester.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in learning more about MGC organizations, we\u202finvite\u202fyou to attend Meet\u202fthe\u202fGreeks (Fall Semester) and MGC Fest\u202feach semester.\u202fThese events will be free and open to all UT students. MGC Meet the Greeks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">August 24: MGC Fest in HSS Plaza, 6 p.m. &#8211; 8 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">November 22: MGC\/NPHC New Member Orientation in SU 362, 12:30 p.m. &#8211;
