Position Summary<\/h2>\n

The assistant hall director (AHD) supports the hall director (HD) in creating and managing a residence life program that emphasizes community development and strong student engagement. They oversee key administrative and operational functions within the residence hall, serving as a central point for day-to-day coordination. The AHD supervises front-line staff working at the 24-hour desk and the hall\u2019s post office, including handling their scheduling and payroll. In addition to staff oversight, the AHD works closely with students and student employees to foster positive interactions and a welcoming living environment. They also assist in managing student conduct issues, participate in the on-call crisis response rotation, and ensure that resident concerns are addressed and resolved promptly.<\/p>\n

Position Responsibilities<\/h2>\n

Staff Supervision and Development<\/h3>\n

The role includes hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating office assistants for 24-hour desk and post office operations, as well as supervising resident assistant staff when the hall director is unavailable. It requires using multiple software systems to manage daily operations, staffing, and reporting. The position coordinates employee schedules, manages payroll and timesheet verification, and reviews daily operational logs to ensure consistent desk and post office performance. Additional responsibilities include leading monthly staff meetings and ongoing training, overseeing key and key card inventories through audits, and coordinating building safety procedures such as fire drills, health and safety inspections, and related reporting.<\/p>\n

Student Conduct and Crisis Management<\/h3>\n

The role acts as the primary conduct officer, meeting with students to address policy violations, assign sanctions, and manage all documentation in Maxient. It tracks sanction completion, conducts regular building walkthroughs to support safety, and participates in an on-call rotation to handle crises, behavioral issues, and facility concerns after hours.<\/p>\n

Community Development and Well-Being<\/h3>\n

Oversee the day-to-day operations that positively contribute to the ongoing community development and well-being through programming attendance and support; maintain a high visibility and accessible presence within the residence halls to engage with students and staff, fostering a sense of community including daily office hours and regular evening program attendance; Lead and manage on-call crisis response and emergency situation, ensuring timely and effective resolution to ensure resident safety and wellbeing; Coordinate follow up with reporting protocols including, CSA\/Clery Act, student transports, and distressed student protocols.<\/p>\n

Required Knowledge and Skills<\/h2>\n

Verbal and non-verbal communication skills; ability to use a computer; Solid administrative skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to supervise staff.<\/p>\n

Masters – $46,000
