The Staff Engagement and Development Committee (SEDC) is a team of staff members across the division that plans and implements a variety of opportunities for staff to connect with others, develop personal and professional skills, and recognize the accomplishments and work of division staff.
The priorities for the Staff Engagement and Development Committee are:

Big Orange Friday Student Life Meetings
Big Orange Friday Division Meetings occur on the first Friday of each month. Details and Zoom invitation will be sent directly to staff.
State of the Division of Student Life
RSVP to attend the State of the Division on August 27 in the Student Union Ballroom C.
To accommodate the entire division, there are two options for attending the event. Please choose ONE option to attend so that we have an accurate count for food:
- August 27, 2021 from 9:00am-10:30am in Student Union Ballroom C (breakfast)
- August 27, 2021 from 11:30am-1:00pm in Student Union Ballroom C (lunch)
Kickin’ it with Cuevas
Kickin’ it with Cuevas is a monthly small-group event hosted by the Staff Engagement & Development Committee. Staff will have the opportunity to spend an hour with Dr. Cuevas and discuss a variety of fun and engaging topics during that time.
KnoxYOU is a new program for Student Life staff hosted by the Staff Engagement & Development Committee, Diversity Committee, BeWell, and the Jones Center for Leadership & Service. KnoxYOU’s primary goal is to support the overall wellbeing of staff within Student Life by furthering connections within the division and in the local Knoxville community. KnoxYOU will facilitate opportunities for staff to find themselves in Knoxville and UT as we work towards building and connecting staff with supportive and enriching communities.
