
Psychiatry Clinic
The Psychiatry Clinic assists in meeting the mental health care needs of the student body by providing access to psychiatric assessment and medication management, when clinically indicated, for specific mental health conditions.
Psychiatric services are provided through the Student Health Center Psychiatry Clinic located on the first floor of the Student Health Center building.
Psychiatry Clinic Scope of Services
For new patients, the Student Health Center Psychiatry Clinic’s scope of services is currently limited to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of the following conditions:
- Anxiety/Panic Attacks
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with confirmed diagnosis
- Bipolar Mood Disorder
- Insomnia
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- PTSD/Trauma and Stressor Disorders
- Schizophrenia with stable presentation
- Depression
- Disordered eating
Students seeking mental health care for psychiatric conditions beyond this scope of care should, when possible:
- Maintain an existing relationship with their current mental health care provider.
- Contact their private health insurance carrier as a resource for covered mental health services in this area.
Students encountering difficulties accessing off-campus mental health care may contact the UT Center for Care and Resilience for further assistance.
Mental Health Crisis
The Psychiatry Clinic strives to meet all health care needs but cannot provide timely or appropriate care if a student is experiencing distress or a mental health crisis. It also cannot provide support for students in withdrawal or active detoxification from alcohol or other substances.

During regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. Wednesdays), if you have an urgent mental health need or are in crisis, call the Student Counseling Center at 865-974-2196 to ask for a crisis appointment.
After hours, you can call the Student Counseling Center at 865-974-2196 to be connected to a confidential mental health counselor for emergent support. The after-hours crisis counselor cannot make or change appointments at the Student Counseling Center for you.
In cases of an immediate threat of harm to self or others, please dial 911 for emergency response, on or off campus.
