Environmental Wellness

Environmental wellness refers to being able to be safe and feel safe through creating and occupying environments that support well-being.

Developing Your Environmental Wellness

  1. Engage in sustainable habits such as using the recycle bins located throughout campus and encourage others to properly dispose of their items.
  2. Spend time outside in nature.

Environmental Wellness In and Out of the Classroom

The environments we design for students, both inside and outside the classroom, play a significant role in their success. Everyone can support wellness by creating flexible, supportive, and safe spaces.

Examples of Environmental Wellness inside and outside of the Classroom

  • Hold class or study groups outside when the weather is favorable
  • Only print documents when necessary
  • Normalize self-care – allow students to step away without asking (restroom breaks, water refill, content is triggering or upsetting) – this normalizes leaving and does not stigmatize a student
  • Take regular wellness walks
