Students may experience dissatisfaction with weight, shape, or appearance more broadly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Disordered eating behaviors exist on a continuum and are far more prevalent than formally diagnosed eating disorders. This could look like chronic dieting, food restriction, binge eating, purging behaviors (e.g., vomiting or laxative use), misuse of exercise, and rigid food rules. These behaviors often function as coping mechanisms for managing stress, anxiety, trauma histories, perfectionism, or a desire for control during a period of significant life transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If thinking about food or your body takes up more time than you feel it should; if your relationship with food feels complicated, stressful, or overwhelming; if looking in the mirror brings negative thoughts or critical messages; you\u2019re not alone &#8211; and you don\u2019t have to figure it out by yourself. By promoting holistic health, CHEW helps students build resilience and maintain balance amidst the demands of college life. Meeting dates and times are regularly updated.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-utk-wds-accordion-panel\"><h2 class=\"utk-wds-accordion__heading\" data-accordion-heading=\"true\"><div>Student Health Center<\/div><\/h2><section data-accordion-section=\"true\"><div class=\"utk-wds-accordion__panel-body\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.utk.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Student Health Center (SHC<\/a>) provides individualized evaluations, treatment recommendations and referrals for comprehensive, interdisciplinary care for students experiencing disordered eating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Services include medical evaluations, ongoing medical monitoring, and treatment of eating disorder\u2013related health concerns, with an emphasis on early identification, medical stability, and continuity of care. Medical providers assess and monitor vital signs, laboratory values, and provide treatment for medical complications associated with restrictive eating, binge eating, purging behaviors, and relative energy deficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SHC firmly believes in individualized care based on clinical presentation and risk level. Our providers collaborate closely with campus and community partners to support student health and safety. We offer information about community providers. When available, students may be referred to eating disorder\u2013certified registered dietitians and licensed therapists for nutrition counseling and psychotherapy as part of a multidisciplinary treatment approach.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-utk-wds-accordion-panel\"><h2 class=\"utk-wds-accordion__heading\" data-accordion-heading=\"true\"><div>Student Counseling Center<\/div><\/h2><section data-accordion-section=\"true\"><div class=\"utk-wds-accordion__panel-body\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/studentlife.utk.edu\/counselingcenter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Student Counseling Center (SCC)<\/a>&nbsp;is dedicated to supporting students\u2019 mental health and emotional well-being throughout their academic journey.
