Global Citizens Program

The Global Citizens Program is an abroad-based experience offered through a collaborative effort between the Office for Campus Culture and Community and the Office of the Dean of Students. The Global Citizens Program is an immersive, interdisciplinary program designed to increase access to an abroad-based experience for all students. The 2026-2027 cohort trip destination is to be determined.

All students are welcome.


Program Details

By participating in the Global Citizens program, you will:

  • experience career readiness and marketability
  • gain a broader perspective of the world
  • make friends and connections with others

This cohort model program builds intimate connections through an intensive 32-week program where participants will learn all about and prepare for their time in the chosen country during the end of the spring semester at UT. At the end of the term, students will have a culminating two-week abroad experience in the country selected.

This program allows for a transformational experience at an affordable cost and is open to all UT students with preference for rising sophomores and juniors.

Interviews to select final participants will be held shortly after the application window closes.

Please note that there is a mandatory meeting for those selected on April 28, 2026, at 6 p.m. The class day and time for fall 2026 cohort meetings will be determined at this time.

  • February 16 (Mon) – Applications Open
  • February 23 (Mon) – Information Session #1 from 6-7 p.m. at the Frieson Black Cultural Center Building Room 216
  • February 26 (Thurs) – Information Session #2 from 6-7 p.m. at the Frieson Black Cultural Center Building Rroom 216
  • March 18 (Wed) – Information Session #3 from 1-2 p.m. at the Frieson Black Cultural Center Building Room 216
  • March 27 11:59 p.m. (Fri) – Applications Close
  • April 28 (Tues) – Mandatory Group Meeting from 6-7 p.m. at the Frieson Black Cultural Center Building Room 216

Program Cost

$500 total student contribution:

  • $250 due August 17, 2026
  • $250 due January 25, 2027
