Center for Student Engagement

The Center for Student Engagement enriches the student experience through opportunities for personal growth, learning, belonging, and connection. The office supports over 450 Registered Student Organizations and hosts over 100 events annually.


Clarence Brown Theatre

Presents a wide array of productions in an unusual blend of professional and educational theater, with two performance spaces.


Jones Center for Leadership & Service

Engages students in transformational learning experiences that inspire a commitment to socially responsible leadership and service. We envision a world where University of Tennessee, Knoxville graduates are prepared and empowered to be active change-makers who have the ability and responsibility to engage in leadership as a process, cultivate caring and just communities, and understand the interconnectedness of our society.


McClung Museum of Natural History & Culture

Features a range free exhibitions. Houses archaeology, art, material culture, and malacology collections for active research. Presents public programs and events that compliment the exhibits. Can serve as a gathering and activity space for student groups, or for professional development opportunities. Learn more about McClung Museum.


First-Year Experience

First-Year Experience in partnership with the university community, will foster student success by engaging students and families in the Volunteer Experience. Located in the Division of Student Success, our office provides students and families with meaningful experiences and communications in order to support the onboarding and transition of new students throughout their entire first year. Programs include New Vol Experience and First-Year Seminars. 


Natalie L. Haslam College of Music

The Natalie L. Haslam School of Music hosts over 200 events each year, with most held in the beautiful Sandra G. Powell Recital Hall or the James R. Cox Auditorium. The events feature extremely talented students in recitals and various large and chamber ensembles, as well as our world-class faculty and guest artists and lecturers. Additionally, all University of Tennessee students are welcome to join our wide selection of ensembles in the college; students do not have to be music majors to participate. Many of our ensembles offer course credits. You can find more information on music.utk.edu/ensembles. 


Student Union

The Student Union serves as a living room for campus bringing students, staff, faculty, and guests together to build community. Hosting 6,000+ meetings and events a year, it is the primary location for student organization gatherings. The second and third floors offer relaxing and non-traditional study spaces and a commuter and off-campus student lounge on the G3 level near VolBooks, caters to students looking for a spot between classes to warm up their lunches. Many Student Life offices are located in the Student Union, including the Jones Center for Leadership and Service, the Center for Student Engagement, the Office of the Dean of Students, the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life, and the Student Government Association. There are also a number of tenants offering a variety of services including the VolShop, VolBooks, VolSnacks, and VolTech stores; eight campus dining retail outlets, UCopy, a game room, and a contract U.S. Post Office.


Office of Advancement

The Advancement Division exists to empower our campus to dream. The division cultivates philanthropy, transforms students’ lives through private support, and nurtures alumni connections. The division includes Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, College Advancement, Gift Planning, Communications and Donor Experience, Advancement Leadership Team, Advancement Services, and Central Development. The Advancement Division works to change the lives of our students, grow the endowment, foster a strong culture of philanthropy, strengthen partnerships, and create meaningful relationships with our alumni.
