Welcome to your campus living room

Student Union

Welcome to the Student Union, your campus living room and the heart of student life at the University of Tennessee. Home to several dining options, study spaces, and events, the Student Union is a regular meeting place for students to gather and connect.

Students study together inside the Student Union.

Home Away From Home

The Student Union provides students with a home away from home, a place where they can find their community on Rocky Top. It includes iconic campus features, like a 997-seat auditorium and a glass Torch sculpture with 319 individually fire-blown pieces. It is also the hub of campus activity, buzzing each day with the energy of the small city that is the University of Tennessee.

Lighting the Way Forward

The beautiful torch installation in the Student Union was created by local artist Matthew Cummings of Pretentious Glass. Standing 30 feet tall and weighing more than 4,000 pounds, the glass sculpture pays homage to the chandelier that once hung in the stairwell of the former Student Union.
