Vols 2 Vols Wellness Coaching

Vols 2 Vols Wellness Coaching connects UT students with trained peer health educators who offer free and personalized support on campus.

What is Wellness Coaching?

Wellness Coaching is a collaborative process where students partner with a trained peer to identify areas of wellness to improve. Together students and wellness coaches set meaningful goals and develop plans to achieve those goals.

Vols 2 Vols Wellness Coaching conversations are private but do not replace confidential professional medical care or therapy. Sessions are open to all students and are free of cost.

The wellness coaching program follows the 8 Dimensions of Wellness model. Common topics include:

  • Stress Management
  • Study Habits
  • Sleep Hygiene
  • Healthy Eating
  • Exercise
  • Building Better Habits
  • Any of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness

What does a Wellness Coaching session look like?

After completing an informed consent and intake form, students receive an email with details about their scheduled session. All sessions are held in the Center for Health Education and Wellness (CHEW), located on the second floor of the Student Health Center.

A peer wellness coach meets each student in a private and comfortable setting for about 30 minutes. Sessions will focus on overall wellness, setting a specific goal, and developing an action plan. A follow-up session will be scheduled two weeks later to review the goal and action plan or provide additional guidance if needed. Sessions will last for around 30 minutes where the coach will discuss with you your overall wellness, focus on a specific wellness goal, and help create an action plan to help you achieve that goal. You will then schedule a follow up session two weeks later to check in with your coach about your goal progress.

How can I sign up?

Complete the consent and intake form. A CHEW staff member will send information regarding the scheduled session. If you have any questions about the program, please email [email protected].
