Submit Your Immunization Information
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and/or the State of Tennessee mandate new students meet and submit proof of certain immunization requirements. Requirements include the MMR vaccine, varicella (chicken pox) vaccine, and tuberculosis screening. Students living on campus are also required to submit Meningitis ACWY immunization forms.
If you are living on campus, you will not be permitted to move in until these requirements have been met.

Students can submit their immunization records or the immunization exemption form online using the Student Health patient portal.
Emails will be sent to your UT email letting you know your progress on fulfilling these requirements.

Upload Your VolCard Photo and Activate Your VolCard
Before arriving on Rocky Top, you’ll need to download your VolCard, your university ID, onto your mobile device. This is a two-step process, not completing both steps will slow down your check-in process.
- Upload a personal picture to your WebCard Center. Log-in using your NetID and password. Photo uploads can take up to 24 hours to be approved. You’ll receive a confirmation email from the VolCard Office to your Volmail account.
- Once your photo has been approved, download your VolCard to your mobile device.
Visit volcard.utk.edu for step-by-step instructions. You must activate your VolCard before your move-in appointment.
Plan for Transportation and Parking
Learn more about campus transportation options and student parking permits by review the Parking and Transportation information page. The university offers complimentary transportation around campus via the “T” transit system. Beginning August 12, all students will be able to ride the Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) buses for free.
If you plan to bring a vehicle, be sure you have the right parking permit! You may purchase your Non-Commuter (N) Parking Permit for residence halls online. You will need to have a room assignment in order to be eligible for a N parking permit.
Information about Mail & Packages
Each residence hall has a post office in the lobby of the building for students to receive their mail. Students are given their post office box combinations at check-in. Each resident’s post office box number corresponds with their room number.
If you are mailing items before move-in, the residence halls will start accepting packages up to one week prior to your move-in appointment. Please do not mail items before this timeframe. You will be able to pick up any packages sent to the residence hall in the residence hall mailroom upon arrival. Each mailroom will have set hours during move-in and during the academic year. Please check your mail room hours upon arrival.
After move-in, packages are delivered to a central locker location on campus or to your residence hall mail room. For information on package pickup, visit upm.utk.edu/lockers/.
