Student Resources for Finals Week

As the days get shorter and the time spent at the library gets longer, the university offers several resources to support students’ well-being as they finish the semester. Whether you are in search of additional academic support to help you through final exams or mental health resources particularly through the winter months, the Division of Student Life has you covered.

If you need a break from long hours of studying, consider taking a workout class at the TRECS. A variety of classes are offered every day, from yoga, to group strength, to cardio dance. Whatever your favorite workout style, there is sure to be a class that meets your preferences. If you’d rather workout some energy on your own, visit the RecSports website for the most up-to-date operating hours over finals week and the break.

The Student Counseling Center will also be open for the remainder of the semester, offering a variety of mental health resources for students. Through the center, Vols have access to both group therapy sessions and individualized short-term counseling on an appointment basis, as well as assistance in acquiring information regarding other mental health related questions and concerns.

For academic support, the Vol Study Center offers supplemental instruction sessions for several classes across colleges, providing out-of-class review sessions to support students in their understanding of the coursework. Study sessions, both group and one-on-one, are also offered for over 200 courses on campus. The sessions are led by peer learning assistants who have successfully completed and have been trained in the course they are aiding with, with both in-person and online options.

In partnership with the Division of Student Success, the Big Orange Finish Line will be taking place across campus from December 1-10. This initiative provides students with a variety of ways to de-stress during finals week right on campus. From snacks in the library to brief chair yoga sessions, students can follow along with the full schedule of events

While finals can feel overwhelming, no Vol should feel alone. From study sessions to sweet treats, students are encouraged to take advantage of all the resources on campus to end the semester strong.
