When searching for a place to live, the following questions may be helpful in your decision-making process. Property websites may provide some of these details, but you may also want to contact a property representative or take a tour to find out more.

  • Where is this property located in proximity to campus? 
  • What are the costs associated with the leasing process (application, security deposit, etc.)?  
  • Are the costs refundable?  
  • How do I apply for an apartment/unit at this property? 
  • How does a co-signer/guarantor apply? 
  • How do I ensure I am in a unit with my desired roommates? 
  • When will I know I have been approved to live at this property? 
  • When will I get a copy of the lease to sign? 
  • What floor plans are available? 
  • What is the cost of rent per month? 
  • Is the rent per bedroom or for the entire unit? 
  • What is included in the rent (electric, water, pest control, etc.)? 
  • Is internet service provided? 
  • How do utilities get paid? 
  • How does parking work at the property?  
  • Is there a shuttle to campus operated by the property? 
  • Is the unit furnished?  
  • Does the property allow subletting? 
  • What happens if I need to terminate the lease early?
