Caring and Wellness for All Vols

Living a full, balanced life is critical to your success and wellness at UT. Being a healthy Vol means prioritizing your wellness and taking proactive steps to avoid the common cold and flu, eating a balanced diet, being physically active, and getting enough sleep. It also means building a social network, relieving stress, and knowing when to seek treatment for health concerns. From physical wellness to mental health, you’ll find the support you need to be successful at UT.

Our health and wellness offices are dedicated to caring for all Vols, which means no matter what kind of health-related assistance you need, there’s a knowledgeable and motivated staff here to help!

 

The Center for Care and Resilience

The Center for Care & Resilience works collaboratively with students and the university to support individuals who are experiencing distress in their lives. The Center for Care & Resilience gathers information and assesses the contributing factors and meets with students to create and implement a plan that supports self-advocacy, growth, and a return to a level of functioning most likely to promote success.

The Center for Health Education & Wellness (CHEW)

The Center for Health Education and Wellness empowers all Volunteers to thrive by cultivating personal and community well-being. Staff are is dedicated to a community model that is embodied in the “VOLS HELP VOLS” commitment: We are all Volunteers. We look out for each other.

CHEW also prioritizes risk reduction and develops programming based on national research and data collected from our Volunteer community that addresses interpersonal wellness, alcohol and substance use, and general health and wellness.

RecSports

Exercise is key when it comes to your health. It can provide you with an outlet for the stress and feelings that may be building up inside of you. RecSports provides and delivers recreational experiences that enhance the growth and well-being of our students and community through programs, facilities, services, and employment.

There are a number of programs to help you achieve your health goals including fitness, aquatics, intramurals, Outdoor Pursuits, and sports clubs. RecSports allows for friendly competition, fitness training, and sport for all members of the university community.

Student Counseling Center

The Student Counseling Center is the university’s primary facility for mental health services for students. From individualized services to group and couples therapy, the Student Counseling Center is to help you. Staff members provide a variety of short-term services for students, faculty, and staff, with problems ranging from mild situational stresses to acute mental health conditions.

Good mental health is key to ensuring that you are holistically well. It’s important to know where your stress or anxiety comes from in order to know how to manage those emotions. The staff members at the Counseling Center provide a variety of services for students that range from mild situational stresses to acute mental health conditions.

Student Health Center

The Student Health Center (SHC) works to meet your physical health care needs on campus. Student Health works to meet the acute healthcare needs of our students and provides high-quality primary healthcare to promote their health and well-being.

Students have access to non-emergent, outpatient medical care by appointment only for all currently enrolled, eligible students who have paid the health fee portion of the student programs and services fee. The Student Health Center operates several practices including acute care, primary care, the Women’s Health Clinic, sports medicine, the Allergy and Immunization Clinic, Travel Medicine Clinic, physical therapy, laboratory, and radiology (diagnostic X-Ray). The clinics are divided into primary clinical service areas and specialty service areas, including Telemedicine.
