Student Conduct & Community Standards will be responsible for maintaining all official university records related to student conduct. The maintenance of such records is described in detail in Section XIV of the Student Code of Conduct. The University maintains student conduct records separately from student academic records.
If you have a hold on your account:
Please email Student Conduct & Community Standards at studentconduct@utk.edu or call the office at 865-974-3171 to discuss the hold and the steps to remove it.
If you are seeking readmission to the University of Tennessee:
When a student is separated from the University due to conduct related matters they must reapply to the University and follow the admission requirements outlined for readmission students. Readmission, even if you have a disciplinary record, is overseen by the Office of Admissions. Students must be up to date on any conduct sanctions when reapplying, as Admissions will conduct a check with SCCS to ensure all terms of any sanctions are complete. Students should begin the process of readmissions before their separation return date, as the readmission process takes time.
Once a student is readmitted they must contact SCCS to have their conduct hold removed and check to ensure they are in compliance with any remaining sanctions.
If you are seeking your disciplinary record:
After a student is no longer enrolled in the University, SCCS will disclose a student’s disciplinary records to persons outside of SCCS only if one of the following sanctions was imposed on the student while the student was enrolled in the University: suspension; expulsion; withholding of degree; or revocation of degree. To request your conduct record, please send an email to studentconduct@utk.edu with the following information:
- Include the full name as it appeared when you attended the University of Tennessee
- Include your date of birth
- Indicate whether the information is going to a third party or if it is for your personal records. Students are entitled to full summaries of their conduct records, however, if the information is going to a third party SCCS will follow the disclosure process outlined in Section XIV of the Student Code of Conduct.
If you are seeking to petition the removal of an Indefinite Suspension:
In the past, SCCS placed students on indefinite suspension. Please note, however, that a 2017 revision to the Code of Conduct removed indefinite suspension as a sanction. A student previously placed on indefinite suspension may petition the university to lift the sanction. Please see the Interim Indefinite Suspension Policy for details.
