The Student Health Center works to meet your health care needs on campus. There are a few ways to book an appointment at the Student Health Center, and we included a how-to guide below to help you set up your first appointment!
The center provides nonemergent, outpatient medical care by appointment only for all currently enrolled, eligible students who have paid the health fee portion of the student programs and services fee.
Student Health Center clinics are divided into primary clinical service areas and specialty service areas, including telemedicine. A full listing of the clinics, services, and important patient health and scheduling information is located on the Student Health Center website.
Masks are not required in the Student Health Center building but are strongly encouraged. You are encouraged to discuss masking needs with your primary care provider. We strongly encourage the use of masks or face coverings if you are immunosuppressed, if you have been running a fever, or if you are having respiratory symptoms. For COVID-19 information and support, please visit the Student Health Center website.
Booking an Appointment
To schedule a same-day or future appointment, you must contact a Student Heath Center Triage Nurse at 865-974-5080.
Registered nurses serve as the center’s triage nurses and provide direct contact for patients seeking medical advice, same-day appointments, or future appointments. Appointments are available for scheduling between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Each day there are a limited number of same-day appointments available. Same-day appointments may only be scheduled by speaking with a triage nurse. Approximately sixty percent of all daily appointments are available for same-day scheduling with the remainder of daily appointments available for scheduling on an alternate future date.
We encourage you to call the triage nurse line early to secure a same-day appointment. When no further appointments are available for same-day scheduling, the center’s staff will assist you in securing an appointment for a future date or direct you to other local health care resources if needed. Triage nurses may also book online telemedicine appointments when clinically appropriate.
