Rebecca Morgan, acting director of UT’s Student Health Center, has been honored with the Volunteer Faculty Award by the University of Tennessee Medical Department of Family Medicine. This award is presented each year at the Family Medicine Residency graduation in June. Dr. Morgan previously won this same award in 2011 and 2015.
Faculty members are nominated for the award by family medicine residents enrolled in sports medicine rotations at the UT Student Health Center, and later residents vote as a group on the nominations.
The only criteria for the award is that the honored physician must be in a volunteer role as a faculty member and host rotations for learning residents.
One nominating student said this about Dr. Morgan’s impact:
“Dr. Morgan is an excellent clinician, is very attentive to her patients, and is a great teacher. I recommend her rotation to everyone. She is a wonderful teacher [and] cares about those that rotate with her.”
Dr. Morgan, a sports medicine specialist, has been on staff with the UT Student Health Center since 1998.
