If you or someone near you is in immediate danger or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, dial 911. Crisis appointments are available in-person during business hours, and after hours from a third party service by calling the Counseling Center at 865-974-2196.

As a department in the Division of Student Life, the Student Counseling Center serves as the primary resource for mental health services and support for students.

Our multidisciplinary team includes psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other helping professionals who work collaboratively to support the University of Tennessee, Knoxville student community.

Located on the second floor of the Student Health Building, the center provides group and individual therapy services, support groups, workshops, and referral services to eligible UT students. Crisis and urgent care appointments are available as well.

The Volunteer community also has access to community intervention programs from our professional staff. Suicide prevention training is a specific focus. To learn more about the center’s outreach, please visit the outreach page.

The University of Tennessee Student Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS) and is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA). The Internship Training Program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Our next APA site visit is scheduled for 2023.
