Confidentiality

The Student Counseling Center respects your right to confidentiality.

Although the Student Counseling Center maintains case files, our records are accessible only to appropriate clinical staff. They do not become part of any central university record. You can be assured that no information, including the fact that you’ve made an appointment or sought services, is shared with anyone other than clinical staff without your written consent. (Students under the age of 16 years have different guidelines, which we are happy to discuss.)

The SCC complies with all applicable federal and state laws and professional standards relating to the privacy of client information and mental health professionals. As a confidential resource, the SCC is not mandated to report or disclose information to the University/Title IX office. Records are only released with expressed consent of a client, or if mandated by a court of law.
