The RecSports 5K Fun Run & Walk will begin promptly at 8 a.m. and will start at the Tennessee Recreation Center for Students (TRECS) (2111 Volunteer Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37996) and finish at the RecSports Sutherland Field Complex (3620 Sutherland Ave, Knoxville, TN 37919).

Parking
Park at the RecSports Sutherland Field Complex.
We recommend arriving at the parking area between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. to allow time for shuttle transportation and time for stretching/warming up.
Race Transportation
Race participants will park at the RecSports Sutherland Field Complex (3620 Sutherland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37919).
Shuttles will transport race participants to the TRECS Plaza (5K start location) starting at 7 a.m. Shuttles will continue to run throughout the event and take participants back until 11am with the option to be taken back to campus from the RecSports Sutherland Field Complex.

- Andy Holt Avenue down Volunteer Boulevard
- Volunteer Boulevard over Cumberland Avenue to Tyson Park
- Third Creek Greenway to RecSports Sutherland Field Complex
Note: The Third Creek Greenway will remain open to the public during the 5K.
Race Registration
For UT students, faculty and staff, you will be able to login with your UT NetID and password.
For non-UT affiliates, after accessing the registration link, follow the below steps to create an account
- Select “Sign In”
- Select “Sign Up”
- Follow steps for account creation.
- Once logged in and returned to the 5K registration page, select “Select” then “Register” and follow steps to complete registration
Participant Shirt & Finisher Medal
Participants who register by the deadline will receive a t-shirt and finisher medal.
We cannot guarantee exact shirt sizes as availability after registration deadline.

All attendees, including 5K participants and non-participants, will be eligible for post-race giveaways. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Winners will be randomly selected from anyone in attendance. Must be present at the time of the giveaway to claim your prize.

Frequently Asked Questions
The race is open to all ages. Children ages seven years and younger can run for free with paid adult registration. In addition, a waiver would need to be completed for each participating child.
5K will take place rain or shine.
Refunds are not allowed for this race.

We encourage you to come pick up your own packet. However, if you can’t make it during the designated pickup time, someone else can pick up your packet by showing a photocopy of your picture ID.
Each participant will receive their race bib, a 5K shirt, and a race bag with promotional items from our 5K sponsors. If you registered prior to April 3, 2026, you will be guaranteed a race shirt with your selected size. If you registered on or after April 3, 2026, you will be guaranteed a race shirt but not guaranteed to receive your selected size.
Yes, we will have restrooms located inside the TRECS near the starting location as well as restrooms near parking/post-race locations at the RecSports Sutherlan Field Complex.
No separate start for walkers. All participants, whether running or walking, will begin promptly at 8a.m. If you plan to walk, we ask that you start near the back for your safety and that of the runners.
Unfortunately, no pets are allowed to participate.
We strongly discourage the use of headphones due to safety concerns.
Yes, we will have a water station available around the halfway mark of the 5K.
Yes, we will have a paramedic and EMT available.
Yes, all participants who complete the 5K will receive a medal.
Yes, shuttles will be operating to and from the RecSports Sutherland Field Complex and TRECS between 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.
