Fitness Assessment
A 45-minute conversation focused on your current and future fitness goals. This conversation will be guided by one of our certified personal trainers and will include posture and cardiovascular assessments as well as our new optional InBody Scan.
InBody Scan
What does your weight really represent? When you step on a scale, you can’t see what your weight represents, all you see is a number with no context. Go beyond the scale with the InBody Test, a non-invasive, quick, and accurate body composition analysis that provides a detailed breakdown of your muscle, fat, water, metabolic rate, and more. Your comprehensive yet easy-to-understand measurements will display on an InBody Result Sheet that a certified personal trainer will interpret with you.
Individual Sessions
As part of the individual personal training sessions, you will receive an initial fitness assessment, individualized programming, and one-on-one instruction, all from one of our certified personal trainers.
Semi-Private Sessions
Clients train in groups of two to three people with one personal trainer, pushing each other to achieve maximum fitness results. As part of the semi-private training sessions, the clients will receive an initial fitness assessment, programming tailored to their specific goals, and in-person instruction, all from one of our certified personal trainers. Each client is responsible for individual payment.
Vol Strong Small Group Training
This six-week program is designed for all Vols to help gain knowledge of proper weightlifting technique, increase confidence, and build community in a small group setting all while under the guidance of our certified personal trainers. All participants will receive weekly nutritional newsletters from our campus dietitian and a T-shirt upon completing the program.
Training To-Go
Allows you the flexibility to train whenever or wherever you would like while still under the guidance of one of our certified personal trainers. As part of the Training To-Go program you will receive a fitness assessment, customized programs, as well as accountability check-ins, all from one of our certified personal trainers.
Equipment Orientation
Curious how to utilize the equipment on the Fitness Floor? This 45-minute equipment orientation led by one of our certified personal trainers will give you the confidence to safely use the equipment on the fitness floor.

Personal Training Client Agreement
The guidelines outlined below are to ensure that the relationship between the trainer and client and the
responsibilities of both parties are clearly appreciated and understood.
Trainer’s Responsibilities
- Your trainer will design a personalized program that meets the client’s needs and goals that is
sage, effective and conductive. - Each session will last at least 45 minutes, but will not exceed 1 hour.
- Your trainer will provide guidance regarding proper exercise techniques.
- Your trainer will maintain a record of client progress and provide necessary feedback.
- Your trainer will evaluate and modify the personalized program as necessary according to the
client’s progress, needs, and goals. - If your trainer is late for a session, that time is owed to the client.
- Trainer must notify the client 4 hours prior to session, if they must cancel; at which time the
session will be rescheduled. - Your trainer is an employee of the University and may not accept any direct or additional
payment for his or her services. - All information regarding the client’s program and progress is confidential and will remain on file
with the RecSports Department.
Client’s Responsibilities
- Payment must be received prior to the first meeting. Payments should be made at the Welcome
Center located on the main floor of Tennessee Recreation Center for Students (TRECS). - Client will not be allowed to pay the Trainer directly for a session.
- Client is expected to discuss all health history information and any medical concerns with the
trainer. - Client and trainer are required to sign in and out of every session.
- All appointments must begin on time and end one hour after the scheduled starting time. Any
time lost due to client tardiness is considered part of the appointment and is non-refundable. The
trainer is expected to wait 15 minutes for a client at which time the session is forfeited. - Client must give 4 hours’ notice for session cancellation. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture
of one session. - Client will communicate any discomforts, pain or concerns experienced during or arising from a
session. - Sessions must be used with in the selected package’s expiration date.
- Client shall abide by rules and policies of the University of Tennessee. The University of
Tennessee reserves the right to deny services to clients who fail to abide by such rules and
policies. - If client, for any reason, does not fulfill all of their sessions in the packet, no refund will be given.
- All sessions must be complete within the package’s specified expiration date.
- Client acknowledges that he/she is in good health and physically able to participate in a
personalized program. By signing below, client acknowledges and agrees that he/she has no
limiting health conditions that would preclude participation in an exercise program, and will
immediately inform the trainer if such health condition arises during the client’s participation in
the personalized program.
