Many Chapters, Four Councils, One Home Sweet Home
There are four governing councils that oversee 50 chapters, promoting well-being through accountability, programming, and advocacy.
- Interfraternity Council (IFC) represents 23 international men’s fraternities.
- Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) oversees six culturally-based sororities and fraternities.
- National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is composed of nine historically, not exclusively, Black sororities and fraternities. Also known as the “Divine 9,” UT is home to seven active NPHC organizations.

An Expectation of Excellence
Succeeding in the classroom is important for every member in our community, with most organizations requiring a minimum GPA. Organizations offer academic support such as study hours, study groups by majors, junior and senior mentorship, and connections to alumni for greater access to internships and practicums.
The sorority and fraternity community consistently has a higher average GPA than the general student body.

A Pathway to Leadership and Growth
Our members grow their intellectual, emotional, social, physical, creative, and leadership potential. Chapters and councils offer more than 450 leadership roles through executive boards, committees, and community leadership positions for students to develop career readiness skills and lead on campus.
Every level of leader can develop their skills through two for-credit courses offered to students in the Greek community. These courses focus on leadership development theory, CliftonStrengths, current issues facing college students, and how students can practice leadership in and out of their chapters.
