Standards of Fraternal Excellence (SOFE)

In order to best contribute to the Volunteer experience, the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life (OSFL), in conjunction with students, staff, faculty, campus partners, and fraternal umbrella associations, created the Standards of Fraternal Excellence (SOFE) in 2016.

The Standards of Fraternal Excellence outline the commitments of the university, the Division of Student Life, OSFL, sorority and fraternity organizations, national and international organizations, sorority and fraternity volunteers, and student members.

OSFL will provide ample support and resources in order to maintain compliance with the SOFE requirements. Sororities and fraternities are expected to reach the minimum expectations set forth by SOFE, and the organizations recognized by the office will be required to meet these standards. Organizations not achieving minimum expectations will work in conjunction with the office to create plans for improvement and future success with their chapter coach.

The SOFE categories include education, administration, academic, civic engagement, and excellence.
